Russian forces launched an artillery attack on Kherson in the morning of 3 August, head of the Ukrainian president’s office Andriy Yermak reported. A church in the centre of the city came under attack, head of the regional administration Oleksandr Prokudin noted.
Three passengers of a trolleybus, which was driving nearby, were injured. A woman, 39, and a man, 53, are getting the necessary medical care. A man, 74, sustained serious chest injuries and a closed head injury, doctors are fighting for his life, Prokudin added.

When firefighters were putting out the fire in the St Catherine’s Cathedral, which emerged after the attack, Russia launched another round of shelling, the Ukrainian Interior Ministry said. Four state emergency service workers were injured and rushed to hospital. The ministry added that the special hardware had been damaged.

The Kherson administration said that in the past 24 hours the Russian Armed Forces shelled the region 15 times, using 99 projectiles. Damage was recorded in Kherson, Antonivka, Sadove, Pridneprovsk, Zelenivka, and Molodizhne. The attacks resulted in various degree injuries for two people.
On 31 July, the Kherson region authorities reported four deaths and 18 injuries among locals in Russian attacks. Regional governor Prokudin added that the high intensity of shelling is linked to the rotation of the Russian army on the Dnipro’s left bank.
