Russia’s Defence Ministry has confirmed the strikes on the city of Lviv.

“The goal of today’s strikes on the Ukrainian reserves was [to target] the Western equipment and the militants on the territory of Lviv’s military academy,” an unnamed Defence Ministry source told Russia’s state news agency RIA Novosti.

The administration head clarified that over 30 buildings, over 250 flats, 10 dorms, a children’s home, two universities, and a school were damaged in the attack. Furthermore, a power substation was damaged — around 150 households were left without electricity.

Media outlet Suspilne Lviv reports, citing the city council press service, that 13 of the injured were hospitalised, while 21 people were provided medical assistance at the scene. One woman is in critical condition.

According to the Ukrainian police, a residential multi-storey building was damaged in the attack — the third and fourth floors in two sections of the building were destroyed. The emergency workers rescued seven people and evacuated 64.

Kozytskyi previously reported that a critical infrastructure facility was also damaged.

The Russian army used 10 Kalibr missiles, according to Ukraine’s Air Force. Ukraine’s air defence was able to destroy seven of them.

Mayor of Lviv Andriy Sadovyi called this attack “the biggest since the start of the full-scale Russian invasion”.

Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky posted a video from the scene filmed by a drone and offered his condolences to the relatives of the victims.

During the night, Ukraine’s Air Force reported that air defence was activated in the Lviv and Ternopil regions of Ukraine. They warned of “several missiles on the course to the western regions” of Ukraine.
