Russian streaming platform fined €10,000 for ‘LGBT propaganda’

Kinopoisk, a Russian subscription-based streaming service, has been fined one million rubles (€10,200) for what the court described as “LGBT propaganda”, TASS reports.

According to the court, Kinopoisk failed to place an 18+ age restriction warning on a number of films, particularly Bridget Jones’s Diary, Greed, Blow Dry, and Perfect Strangers. Kinopoisk defended its actions, saying that these films can only be watched via subscription, which is only available to people aged over 18, but the court dismissed this argument.

Earlier, several other Russian streaming platforms were charged with the same offence.
