Residents of Russian town on Ukraine border complain they are forced to return and go to work

Residents of Shebekino, a Russian town in the Belgorod region located near the Ukrainian border that has been increasingly often targeted by shelling and attacks, are forced to return and come back to their workplaces, the Limon Telegram channel reports.

Comments about work-related problems appeared under a post on VK, Russian social media platform, published by Belgorod region Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov. According to the residents, employers “are forcing people to return to work” and also reopen shops and businesses that are not “vital or essential”. Moreover, the Belgorodsky Broyler company fires people who left the region.

Local official Vladimir Zhdanov responded to the comments, advising people to appeal to the regional economic development ministry.

Earlier, residents of Novaya Tavolzhanka, another village on the Ukrainian border often faced with shelling, complained to Gladkov about the actions of Russian service members. According to them, the soldiers “lead a disreputable lifestyle” and steal things. Zhdanov said that the “appeal was referred to the security council” of the town administration.
