Russia’s Defence Minister Shoigu says Ukraine prepares to hit Russia, Crimea with HIMARS, Storm Shadow missiles: ‘This will mean UK, US full involvement in conflict’

Sergey Shoigu, Russia’s Defence Minister, has stated that Ukraine’s military is preparing to execute strikes against Russia proper and Crimea.

“According to our data, the Ukrainian military leadership is planning on executing strikes against the Russian territory, including Crimea, using HIMARS and Storm Shadow missiles,” Shoigu said at a Defence Ministry meeting.

He also said that the usage of these missiles outside the combat zone will mean that “the US and the UK will become fully involved in the conflict.” Shoigu also threatened that such an attack would trigger “immediate strikes against decision-making centres” in Ukraine.

Shoigu added that Ukraine’s military has been conducting an offensive in three directions of the frontline since 4 June, namely the South-Donetsk, Donetsk, and Zaporizhzhia directions. During this time, Ukraine has attacked 263 times using Western weapons and NATO-trained fighters, Shoigu claims, adding that all attacks had been repelled.
