An “unspecified state body” has put the website of Greenpeace, an environmental organisation, onto Russia’s register of restricted information, Roskomsvoboda reports.
The entry on the register says the decision to block the website was made on 1 June. It is unknown what state body blocked the organisation’s web page; Roskomsvoboda believes it was Russia’s Office of Prosecutor General.

The Prosecutor General’s Office declared Greenpeace an “undesirable” organisation in the country on 19 May.
According to the agency, Greenpeace “threatens Russia’s constitutional foundations and security” and “attempts to form a negative public opinion and hamper beneficial infrastructure and energy projects”.
Following the announcement, Greenpeace’s Russian office announced that it would shut down operations in the country over the “undesirable” organisation label.
