Kyiv attacked by drones for 17th time in May. One killed

Russian forces attacked Kyiv three times in the early hours of 30 May, only Shahed drones were used this time, Kyiv’s city military administration reported.

One person was killed, while 20 drones were downed, the administration noted. “This latest air attack, the 17th since the beginning of the month, was preliminarily carried out exclusively by Shahed bomber munitions,” the statement reads.

The attack was launched on a mass scale from different directions and in several waves. Air raid sirens were sounding off for almost three hours.

According to Ukraine’s air force command, 29 drones out of the 31 launched were downed at night across the country.

A drone fragment fell on an apartment building in Kyiv’s Holosiivsky district, causing the last two floors to catch fire, more than 20 people were evacuated. Preliminary reports suggest that one person died, three more were injured.

In the Pechersky district, cars were damaged after debris fell on them. A private house caught fire after drone fragments dropped on it in the Darnytsky district, parked cars were also damaged.

According to the administration, drone debris also landed in Kyiv’s Dnipro, Podilsky, and Sviatoshynsky districts.

Air alert sirens went off in Kyiv and several regions of Ukraine overnight, explosions were heard in the Ukrainian capital, while air defence forces were active. Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko noted that a massive attack was underway and urged people to take cover.
