Putin’s spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirms his son fought in Ukraine as part of PMC Wagner

Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Russian President Vladimir Putin, has confirmed that his son Nikolay had served in PMC Wagner and fought in the war in Ukraine, media outlet RBC reports, citing Peskov.

“He did serve in the armed forces some time ago… Now, he’s made this decision. Yes, he did take part in the special military operation. I wouldn’t want to expand on the subject,” Peskov claims.

Yesterday, 23 April, it was reported that Nikolay Peskov himself said in an interview that he had fought in Ukraine as part of PMC Wagner. According to him, he “just had to” take part in the hostilities, and his family supported his decision despite being worried: “They asked me if I was certain that I understood where I was going. I said yes, and they said, well, go ahead then.”

Founder of PMC Wagner Yevgeny Prigozhin previously said that Peskov had asked for his advice last summer because his son had “decided to go to war and there was no use trying to talk him out of it”.

After six months of service, Peskov junior went on a leave, Prigozhin added.
