Belgorod region governor reports fires at two civilian facilities

Two fires have been recorded at civilian facilities in Russia’s Belgorod and Belgorod region, Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov reported.

According to him, no one was injured. By 1 AM, the governor said that both blazes had been put out.

Gladkov did not mention what had caused the fires but Baza and Shot Telegram channels report that a drone attack could have been behind it. According to them, the fire broke out on a power substation, leading to a partial blackout in the city.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, border-adjacent villages in the Kursk, Bryansk, and Belgrod regions have been regularly shelled and attacked.

On 15 April, Gladkov said that the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka had been shelled. According to him, a 73-year-old woman was injured after a projectile landed on a residential building, she was concussed and provided with all the necessary medical care.

On 16 March, air-defence missile debris landed in downtown Belgorod. According to Gladkov, “facades of administrative and residential buildings were damaged” but no one was injured.
