Media: drone attacks airport in Russia’s Belgorod

A drone loaded with explosives has attacked Belgorod’s airport located north of the border with Ukraine, RIA Novosti reports, citing a source in emergency response services.

The report was initially published by Baza and ASTRA.

No one was injured reportedly: the airport has been shut down since last year due to its close proximity to the active combat zone in Ukraine.

According to Telegram channels, the drone crashed into the fence, dropped to the ground, and exploded. The explosion damaged the fence and an alarm system cable.

ASTRA notes that the incident occurred on 10 April.

The information has not been officially confirmed yet. It is also not specified whose drone it was.

Following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, border-adjacent villages in the Kursk, Bryansk, and Belgorod regions have been regularly targeted by attacks.

Earlier, an agricultural facility security guard was killed in a shelling of the village of Borisovka in the Belgorod region.
