Russia and Ukraine exchange POWs: 106 people returned to Russia, 100 to Ukraine

Russia’s Ministry of Defence reports returning 106 servicemen from Ukrainian captivity.

“On 10 April, a negotiation process resulted in the return of 106 Russian servicemen who were in mortal danger in captivity in Kiev-controlled territory,” as per the ministry’s statement.

The servicemen will be transported by aircraft to Moscow where they will undergo treatment and rehabilitation.

Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine Andrii Yermak says that 100 POWs were returned to Ukraine in the swap.

“We were able to carry out another big POW swap. We’re bringing home 100 of our people — servicemen, navy, border guards, members of the National Guard. Among them, there are defenders of Mariupol, Azovstal steelworks, and Hostomel,” he adds.
