Microsoft suspends Xbox warranty service in Russia

Microsoft has suspended warranty service for its Xbox gaming consoles in Russia, the company’s technical support told an Izvestia reporter who contacted support as a user.

“Warranty service for consoles, including those legally imported to Russia, is no longer available due to the current situation. We suggest that console owners contact their sellers,” the technical support said.

Anna Sarbukova, the leading legal advisor with the EBR company, notes that Russia remains on the list of countries where Microsoft provides technical support, as per the company’s website.

In March last year, the US-based Microsoft corporation announced it would suspend its activities in Russia amid the Ukraine war. Last summer, the company banned Russian users from downloading utilities for installing its Windows operating system, including the Media Creation Tool utility, from its website.
