Russian woman fined €360 for writing anti-war message on bathroom stall

A district court in Russia’s Ryazan region has fined local resident Yulia Varakushina 30,000 rubles (€360) over “discrediting” the Russian army because she had written an anti-war message on a stall in women’s bathroom at a local mall, Mediazona reports, citing the information posted on the court website.

It is claimed that Varakushina wrote “NO TO WAR! PUTIN IS A MURDERER! BRING RUSSIAN SOLDIERS BACK HOME!”

According to law enforcement officers, this way the woman “undermined the trust towards the conduction of the special military operation”.

The court ruling states that Varakushina admitted guilt and “was regretful of the fact that she had expressed her civic stance in a bathroom”.

On 31 January, Telegram channel Baza reported on the woman’s detention.
