Poland provides several MiG-29 fighter jets to Ukraine

Poland has provided Ukraine with several MiG-29 fighter jets, Marcin Przydacz, a representative of the Polish president has told RMF.

“As far as I’m concerned, several MiG-29 fighter jets have already been sent,” he said, TASS reports.

In mid-March, Polish President Andrzej Duda promised to send four MiG-29 aircraft to Ukraine in the coming days. “We can say for certain that we are sending these MiGs to Ukraine. Now we still have a dozen of these [aircraft]. We got them in the early 1990s from the East German army. These are the last years of their operation in accordance with their technical capabilities,” Duda explained.

The government of Slovakia approved the transfer of 13 MiG-29 fighters to Ukraine earlier. “Promises must be kept, and when [Ukrainian President Volodymyr] Zelensky asked for more weapons, including fighter jets, I said we would do our best,” Prime Minister Eduard Heger said.
