Konstantin Zinchenko, an “official” with the so-called “Donetsk People’s Republic”, says Ukraine’s armed forces have used HIMARS twice to hit the town of Volnovakha with missiles, as per RIA Novosti.
Zinchenko added that this happened during a mourning ceremony in the memory of Vladimir Zhoga, the ‘Sparta’ battalion commander who lost his life a year ago. The strike is reported to have hit a building nearby the ceremony; people were evacuated from the location, RIA Novosti says.
The Ukrainian side has yet to comment on the strike.
It was revealed in May 2022 that local officials were going to name streets in Russia’s Kyzyl and Omsk in the memory of Vladimir Zhoga.
