FT: Russia’s large-scale offensive in Ukraine can begin within 10 days

Russia can launch a renewed large-scale offensive in Ukraine in the next 10 days, The Financial Times reports, citing an unnamed adviser to the Ukrainian military.

According to him, Kyiv has received “very solid intelligence of intent” by Russia to mount another offensive. The adviser added that such an attack could be launched within 10 days.

FT analysts believe that the most likely place where a new Russian attack will be unleashed is the western part of the Luhansk region near Kreminna and Lyman, the area that was recaptured by Ukraine during its counter-offensive in autumn 2022. According to local officials and western experts, Russia has been accumulating forces in this location for several weeks now.

Earlier, Ukraine’s military intelligence agency staffer Andriy Chernyak said that Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered his troops to fully capture the Donetsk and Luhansk regions by March.

This report was indirectly confirmed by Ukrainian Defence Minister Oleksiy Reznikov. “Considering the fact that they love symbolism, they are plotting something around 24 February,” he told France’s BFMTV.
