Ukraine’s regions of Kyiv, Kharkiv, suffer missile strikes

Several Ukraine’s regions have suffered missile strikes, the country’s parliament Verkhovna Rada reports.

“A large-scale missile attack. After an overnight kamikaze drone attack, the enemy targeted multiple locations in Ukraine with cruise missiles from aircraft and ships. Moreover, tactical aviation is highly active,” the country’s parliament said.

Air raid alert has been declared in all regions of the country. Army officials report that two Russian missile carriers entered he Black Sea and were ready to launch up to 20 Calibre cruise missiles.

Vitali Klitschko, the mayor of Kyiv, reported several explosions in the Ukrainian capital. A detached house and a car parked outside of it were damaged; no exact data on casualties so far. He also confirmed that an industrial facility and a children’s playground in different parts of the city were damaged, too.

Three people have been injured so far, including a girl, 14, Klitschko says. All the injured have been admitted to hospital.

“A missile attack on Kharkiv. A series of explosions in the city. Information on casualty and targets to be clarified,” said Ihor Terekhov, Kharkiv’s mayor.

Andriy Sadovyi, the mayor of Lviv, has also reported explosions in his city. The local governor Maksim Kozitsky says air defence is in operation in Lviv.

Vitali Kim, the Mykolaiv governor, reported that five missiles had been taken down. Military officials reported taking down two missiles over the region of Sumy.

The regions of Odesa and Dnipro suffered emergency blackouts. The power company says this was done in order to prevent potential major damage to the grid that would be inevitable “should the enemy hit energy facilities”.

Mykhaylo Podolyak of Zelensky’s administration has reported that Russia launched 120 missiles against Ukraine this time.
