Two Russian soldiers made to record apology video for drunken ruckus in Novosibirsk’s shop

In Russia’s city of Novosibirsk, two men wearing a military uniform who had previously trashed an optician’s shop, have apologised before the staff, local media outlet NGS reports, citing an employee of the shop.

“They came in at about 7 PM followed by policemen and [other] servicemen. They apologised for trashing the shop. They paid for all the damages,” the employee said yesterday, 24 December.

The video published by NGS shows two men — they introduced themselves as junior sergeant Ruslan Stepanov and sergeant Berezovsky — standing near a glasses display case and saying that they are deeply sorry for what happened. In the frame, one can notice a hand of another man in a military uniform, who says at the beginning of the video: “And now, loudly and clearly, my dears, introduce yourselves.”

The incident took place on 23 December. Two drunk men wearing a military uniform entered the optician’s and asked for a bag so they could put bottles of alcohol there, local media outlet AST-54 previously reported. While the employees were helping them pack the bottles, one of the men fell on a child’s chair and broke a glasses display case. When they were asked to pay for the damages, the men began to act indignant. Then, one of the employees began recording them on video.

“I will tell you that you’re a fucking girl,” Berezovsky tells a male employee on the recording, while Stepanov is drinking something from a bottle in the background. “Do you know why you’re a girl? Because you didn’t fucking go, you fucking piece of shit. While we went to fight [in the war], bitch, for you!”

The two soldiers were kept in the shop, after which the police came in to detain them. It is unclear whether the two men were recently mobilised or are contract servicemen.
