Vologda stoker, 61, sentenced to three years in prison over social media posts about civilians killed in Ukraine

A court in Russia’s Vologda has sentenced Vladimir Rumyantsev, 61, to three years in medium security prison over “fake news about the Russian army”, OVD-Info cites Rumyantsev’s lawyer Sergey Tikhonov.

The Vologda resident was found guilty of “spreading false information about the actions of the Russian army out of political hatred”.

The prosecutor requested a six year sentence, claiming that the man was using a “wired radio outlet” in his apartment for spreading information about the Ukraine War. His posts about killed civilians were the reason for his criminal persecution.

Rumyantsev pleads not guilty. He was sent to a pre-trial facility in July.
