‘Deputy head’ of Kherson region occupation ‘administration’ Yekaterina Gubareva is free, husband says. She was declared missing two days ago

Yekaterina Gubareva, the “deputy head” of the pro-Russian occupation “administration” in the Kherson region of Ukraine, is free, her husband Pavel Gubarev, a “people’s deputy” of the so-called Donetsk “people’s republics” (“DPR”), says.

“My wife Yekaterina Gubareva is free. I thank everyone for your thoughts and support. By agreement with the inquisitors, I can’t talk about the case. However, if I notice systematic activity regarding discreditation of my honest name, I reserve the right to share everything as it is,” he writes in a post on his Telegram channel.

On 16 November, Gubarev said that his wife had gone missing the day before. Later in the day, Russia Today reported, citing its source, that she had been detained on financial crime charges. Her status was at the time unknown.

Gubareva has worked as a “Foreign Minister of DPR”, an MP, and “assistant to the head of DPR government” since 2014. She was appointed “deputy head” of the occupation “government” in the Kherson region on 16 June 2022.
