White House: Russia responsible for Poland missile incident regardless of investigation results

The US authorities have pinned the responsibility for the missiles that hit Poland yesterday evening on Russia regardless of the investigation results, as per the White House website.

“It is clear that the party ultimately responsible for this tragic incident is Russia, which launched a barrage of missiles on Ukraine specifically intended to target civilian infrastructure. Ukraine had — and has — every right to defend itself,” reads the statement by National Security Council Spokesperson Adrienne Watson.

The US authorities say they have seen “nothing that contradicts President Duda’s preliminary assessment that this explosion was most likely the result of a Ukrainian air defence missile that unfortunately landed in Poland.“

Two missiles hit the Polish locality of Przewodów near the country’s border with Ukraine in the Lublin Voivodeship, killing two.
