EU officially launches training mission for 15,000 Ukrainian military personnel

The European Union has officially rolled out its mission aimed at training Ukrainian servicemembers (EUMAM Ukraine), the Council of the EU announced on Twitter.

The mission envisages training for 15,000 Ukrainian military personnel in the EU.

The Council of the EU reached an agreement to establish a military assistance mission for Ukraine in October. The programme is expected to last two years, the total financial commitment to its implementation stands at €106.7 million.

“The aim of the mission is to contribute to enhancing the military capability of Ukraine’s Armed Forces to effectively conduct military operations, in order to allow Ukraine to defend its territorial integrity within its internationally recognised borders, effectively exercise its sovereignty and protect civilians,” the announcement reads.
