Ukraine welcomes 45 servicemen back home in a new POW exchange

A total of 45 Ukrainian servicemen have returned to Ukraine in a new POW exchange with Russia, says Andriy Yermak, the head of Volodymyr Zelensky’s administration.

“Children are waiting for these warriors to come back home, we are in touch with their families. The days of stress and sleepless nights are left behind. Everything will be fine,” he wrote on his Telegram.

Among those returned are sergeants and soldiers; Ukraine has also returned two dead bodies of its combatants, Yermak says.

Russia did not announce a prisoner swap. Leonid Pasechnik, the head of the so-called “Luhansk People’s Republic,” reported returning 35 combatants yesterday.

Russia and Ukraine last exchanged POWs a week ago when 107 prisoners were offered for swap by each side.
