Two people killed in shelling of Russia’s Belgorod region

Eyewitnesses report explosions in the city of Shebekino in Russia’s Belgorod region. Regional governor Vyacheslav Gladkov has confirmed this information on his Telegram channel.

“Eleven people were injured, four are in a serious condition. All of them are receiving the necessary medical aid at the hospital,” he said.

Two people were killed in the shelling of Shebekino, the governor stated. It is reported that a man and a 16-year-old teenager were killed.

Besides, nearly 15,000 people have been left without power following the attacks.

Mash reports that a projectile hit a shop in the centre of Shebekino.

Yesterday, an industrial enterprise in the Shebekino city district of Russia’s Belgorod region caught fire after a projectile had hit the building. One person was injured.

The border villages of Russia’s Kursk, Bryansk, and Belgorod regions have come under regular attacks following the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

From 10 October, all schools, colleges and universities in Belgorod and 10 border districts of the Belgorod region switched to online learning. On 20 October, Gladkov advised regional schools to prolong the fall holidays by a week.
