A referendum on joining the Russian Federation will take place in the Kherson region from 23 to 27 September, announced Volodymyr Saldo, Russia-appointed “head” of the region, following similar statements from the Donetsk and Luhansk “people’s republics”.
“I, as the head of the Kherson region Administration, have signed a decree on conducting a referendum on the Kherson region entering the Russian Federation as a full subject of a unified state. I announce that, in accordance with the decree, the referendum will take place from 23 September to 27 September 2022,” Saldo wrote.
According to him, the Kherson region joining Russia “will ensure the protection of the territory and restore historical justice”.
Earlier today, the Donetsk and Luhansk “people’s republics” also announced referendums on entering the Russian Federation, while the “public movement ‘Together with Russia’” asked the Russia-appointed “head” of the Zaporizhzhia region administration to conduct a referendum on joining Russia.
All referendums are set to take place from 23 to 27 September.
