Ukraine’s army has captured all of Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region, continuing offensive operations east of the Oskil River, as per the US-based Institute for the Study of War.
Serhiy Velychko of the Ukrainian army says both banks of the Oskil River within the city limits have been captured; this was later confirmed by Radio Free Europe Russia. Vladlen Tatarsky, a Russian blogger, also says “Kupiansk was surrendered.”
The revelations of mass graves of civilians and torture chambers in newly liberated Izium confirm ISW’s previous assessments that "the Bucha atrocities were not isolated war crimes but rather a microcosm of Russian atrocities throughout Russian-occupied areas."
A mass grave with at least 440 dead bodies was discovered in Izium yesterday. The town was captured by Russia in early April and eventually liberated by Ukraine in September.
