Al Arabiya: suicide bomber commits terror attack near Russian embassy in Afghanistan

A suicide bomber activated an explosive device near the building of the Russian embassy in Afghanistan’s capital Kabul, says Al Arabiya.

The blast went off near one of the embassy’s gates, says the police who shot the bomber dead. Several people have been injured; more precise data will follow.

A source for Russia’s RIA Novosti says the blast went off when an embassy worker went out to speak to visa applicants; between 15 and 20 people were either injured or killed, including the embassy worker and a gatekeeper.

Some workers were evacuated from Russia’s embassy after the Taliban captured Kabul in August 2021, but it is still active.
