Rossiya Airlines to offer Russian-made sodas instead of Coca-Cola and Sprite on its flights

Rossiya Airlines (part of Aeroflot Group) has begun to replace Coca-Cola and Sprite on its flights with Russian-made sodas Baikal and Tarkhun produced by the Chernogolovka company, the air carrier’s press service told TASS.

The press service stated that in the near future, “the airline’s guests will be able to enjoy other Russian beverages during their flight”, such as a Russian-made gin tonic, with both the soda and the gin produced in Russia.

Earlier, the airline abandoned the supply of Rich, a brand of juice produced by Coca-Cola HBC. Chernogolovka-made drinks also appeared in Burger King restaurants in Russia. Vkusno I Tochka (Delicious. Full Stop), a Russian analogue of McDonalds that was established after the fast-food chain’s withdrawal from the Russian market, is currently in talks with Chernogolovka as well.

Coca-Cola Company announced in mid-June that it would stop the production and sales of Coca-Cola and other beverage brands of the company in Russia. Back in March, Coca-Cola suspended its operations in Russia following the war in Ukraine.

In mid-August, Dutch tea-making company Ekaterra announced that it would be leaving the Russian market and suspending the production of Lipton, Saito, and Brooke Bond teas by late 2022.
