“One of PMC Wagner’s positions in Popasna was hit. Sources in Donbass confirm the hit. Probably, HIMARS. Ukrainian media are spreading news of Prigozhin’s death — we do not confirm this,” he wrote in the post.

Last week, war correspondent Sergey Sreda published photos with mercenaries in Popasna on his Telegram channel, notes the Insider*, later the post was deleted. The outlet also reports that the location of the pictures looks like the place which has been struck by Ukraine’s forces.

Officially, there has been no comment from either side.

Previously, IStories* reported that PMC Wagner had offered Saint Petersburg prisoners to “voluntarily” go to Donbas to “help identify Nazis”. They were promised 200,000 rubles (€3,133) for half a year of service, and then freedom, in case they came back alive.

Later, media outlet Verstka together with the foundation Russia Behind Bars calculated that PMC Wagner had visited at least 17 penal colonies in 10 Russian regions and recruited more than a thousand prisoners for war in Ukraine.
