Gozman was detained in Moscow earlier today as he was entering a metro station. “He was detected via the face recognition system. The police told us he was on the federal wanted list,” says Mikhail Biryukov, his lawyer.

It is unknown what Gozman is wanted for. He is now being escorted to a police station.

Gozman was interrogated by the Investigative Committee on 15 July. He is accused of not reporting his dual citizenship to the authorities on time.

“He became a citizen of Israel in 2018 and only reported this to the authorities a year after. So, this is why he is facing criminal charges now, in 2022,” Biryukov says. Gozman was to have another interrogation on 29 July, but this is now rescheduled.
