Russian TV protester Marina Ovsyannikova detained near Moscow

Former employee of Russia’s Channel One Marina Ovsyannikova, who held up a “No to war” sign during a live broadcast of the evening news back in March, has been detained near Moscow, attorney Dmitry Zakhvatov told Novaya Gazeta. Europe.

“She was detained near her house and taken to an unknown location. We are looking for her,” he said.

Last Friday, Ovsyannikova picketed near the Kremlin holding up a sign that read: “Putin is a murderer. His soldiers are fascists. 352 children have been killed. How many more children need to die for you to stop?” In front of her, Marina laid out dolls covered in red paint.

After her March display of protest, Ovsyannikova resigned from Channel One and left the country. It was reported in July that the woman had come back to Moscow to attend a child custody hearing: her ex-husband demands that their children stay with him.
