‘DPR’ waives death penalty moratorium

The self-proclaimed “Donetsk People’s Republic,” a pro-Russian breakaway puppet state in Ukraine’s east, has cancelled its death penalty moratorium, the so-called “People’s Council” says on Telegram.

The decree will take effect shortly.

The so-called “Supreme Court” of the “DPR” sentenced three foreign nationals to death for fighting on Ukraine’s side, on 9 June. The men in question are Shaun Pinner and Aiden Aslin, the UK citizens, and Brahim Saadun from Morocco. They were found guilty of mercenarism and violent upheaval. The UN declared this decision a war crime.
