Ukraine: Russian missiles hit mall with over 1,000 civilians inside in Kremenchuk

Russian forces have carried out missile strikes on Kremenchuk, a city in the Poltava region of Ukraine, said Mayor of Kremenchuk Vitalii Maletskyi in a Facebook post.

“Missiles hit a very public place that has no relation to any military targets,” he wrote.

According to him, there are dead and wounded among the civilians.

At the moment, there is information about 10 victims and 40 injured following the strikes, reported the Head of the Poltava region Dmytro Lunin. The number of victims could rise significantly.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky shared a video with footage from Kremenchuk in a post on his official Telegram channel. He was the first to report that missiles hit the mall “Amstor”, leading to a big fire. According to Zelensky, at the moment of the strike over 1,000 people could be inside the building. “It is impossible to even imagine the number of victims,” commented the president.

The fire is being put out by 115 firefighters. The fire area is 10,300 square metres.

Earlier today, the Kharkiv region authorities also reported that Russian shelling took place. As a result of the shelling, two women were killed and five people wounded in the Chuhuiv district.
