At least two cars were damaged as a result of the explosion. The windows of nearby houses were blown out.

Preliminary information suggests that the man killed in the explosion is Dmitry Savluchenko, who served as the “head of the department of family, youth and sports” within the Russia-installed “military-civil administration of the Kherson region.”

Kirill Stremousov, who calls himself the deputy head of the new “military-civil administration” of the region, said that the car exploded when Savluchenko got into the vehicle. Local officials are treating the incident as a terrorist attack.

Ukrainian lawmaker Oleksii Honcharenko confirmed the incident on his Telegram channel.

On 18 June, TASS reported that Yevgeny Sobolev, head of the Kherson region “penal service”, was injured in a car explosion. The man was taken to a hospital following the incident.
