Kim Jong-un congratulates Putin on Russia Day

The North Korean leader Kim Jong-un sent a congratulatory telegram to the President of Russia Vladimir Putin in honour of Russia Day, reports a South Korean news agency Yonhap, citing the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).

“Under your leadership the Russian people, who are bravely facing the occurring challenges and difficulties, have made a great success in accomplishing a just cause. The North Korean people full heartedly support the Russians’ cause of defending the honour and security of their country, alongside with the rights to its development,” the telegram reads (the quote is by RBC).

Kim Jong-un added that he appreciates “the long history and tradition of friendship and neighbourliness” between the Russians and North Koreans, and plans on their “expansion and development in accordance with the new age imperative and desire of the countries’ citizens.” At the end of the message, he wished good health to Putin and prosperity to the people of Russia.

Previously, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedow, during his personal visit to Moscow, congratulated Putin on Russia Day. He wished “peace, well-being and prosperity” to Russians.
