Children of Aliy Chechenov, the owner of a company in Russia’s Chuvashia that manufactures mobile morgues for the Russian military and comfortable police vans for the National Guard, actively invest in US-based companies, an investigation by IStories reveals.
Chechenov owns the Automobile Vans Combine (KAF), which supplies equipment to Russia’s National Guard, the Russian military and police. According to IStories, the businessman’s daughter Guzel Chechenova received an MBA at Columbia Business School in New York. She worked at global management consulting firm McKinsey. Together with her brother Azamat, she started investing into companies in the spheres of education (Coursera and Udemy) and delivery services (Shippo and Send).
Both Guzel and Azamat were involved in the management of their father’s company. In 2012, Guzel Chechenova attended protest rallies in New York in support of fair elections in Russia. She also worked as an election observer at the Russian Embassy in the US.
The Automobile Vans Combine (KAF) manufactures over 150 models of vehicles for the Russian Defence Ministry, including mobile field kitchens, maintenance vans and mobile refrigerated vans for transporting the bodies of servicemen killed in combat. The vans can transport up to 18 bodies at once. Besides, Chechenov’s company supplies police vans to the Russian police and National Guard.
Aliy Chechenov regularly sponsors the Chuvashia office of the United Russia party. He is on good terms with local and federal government officials, IStories notes.
