Krasnodar man asked to explain himself to police after branding Z-marked dishes sold at Russian supermarket as ‘shit salads’

A resident of Russia’s Krasnodar has been asked to explain himself to the police over a picture he reposted on social media.

The picture shows herring under a fur coat, a popular Russian layered salad dish, marked with the letter Z, a symbol of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The man reposted the picture with the following comment: “St. Petersburg. They started selling shit salads at local Lenta supermarkets.”

Attorney Alexey Avanesyan published a protocol with the man’s explanation on his Telegram channel.

“I did it to warn an unspecified circle of citizens in order to avoid negative repercussions in the form of intoxication,” the Krasnodar man wrote. He noted that the man who published the photo claimed that human excrement was added to the salad that was not marked with a Z, shown in the top part of the picture. The man added that he is not acquainted with the person who took the picture.

The police also asked the Krasnodar resident to explain the meaning of the phrase “I am against the war” published on the man’s social media page. He answered that he is “against all war as a continuation of any policy with violent means.”
