Putin and Defence Minister Shoigu visit Russian servicemen injured during war in Ukraine

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Defence Minister Sergei Shoigu have visited Russian servicemen injured during the war in Ukraine at a hospital in Moscow. Footage of the visit was shown on state-owned Russian TV channel Rossiya-1.

The video shows Putin talking to a serviceman dressed in pajamas, with the man’s back facing the camera. The president asked the serviceman about his nine-month-old son Artyom. Putin assured the soldier that his son would be proud of him.

The last time the Russian Defence Ministry reported on casualties and injured soldiers during the “special operation” in Ukraine was on 25 March, when it announced that 1,351 servicemen were killed and 3,825 were injured. The real numbers are likely to be much higher.
