At least 3,153 civilians killed in Ukraine War, UN say

No less than 3153 civilians were killed and 3316 were injured in Ukraine since 24 February, according to a daily report by the United Nations Human Rights Office. A total of 226 children were killed.

More specifically, 1,539 people were killed and 1,218 were injured on Ukraine-controlled territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions, while 99 civilians were killed and 385 were injured on territory controlled by the self-proclaimed ‘republics’. 1515 killed and 1713 injured in other regions, too.

“Most of the civilian casualties recorded were caused by the use of explosive weapons with a wide impact area, including shelling from heavy artillery and multiple launch rocket systems, and missile and air strikes,” reads the report.

The Human Rights Office also added that they “believe that the actual figures are considerably higher, as the receipt of information from some locations where intense hostilities have been going on has been delayed and many reports are still pending corroboration. This concerns, for example, Mariupol (Donetsk region), Izium (Kharkiv region), and Popasna (Luhansk region), where there are allegations of numerous civilian casualties.”
