Russia’s FSB says ‘two sympathisers of Ukrainian Nazism’ detained in Belgorod

Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) detained two Russian nationals in the city of Belgorod for “plotting a public transport attack in the region,” state news agency TASS reported, citing the FSB Public Relations Centre.

The FSB claims that the detained Russian nationals are “sympathisers of Ukrainian Nazism.” According to the security service, “the two men have been collecting data about Russian troops involved in the special military operation for Ukraine’s Myrotvorets website." Myrotvorets, or Peacemaker, is a Ukrainian website that publishes an online dossier of thousands of pro-Moscow figures.

The FSB also stated that the suspects had planned to damage railways transporting Russian military cargo. The two men have admitted their guilt, the security service added.

Criminal charges were filed against the two suspects for preparing a diversion. If convicted, they can face up to 15 years behind bars.

On April 25, Russia’s FSB informed that it had detained several members of the National Socialism/White Power nationalist terrorist group, who were allegedly planning an assassination of Russian propagandist Vladimir Solovyov. Later, a court arrested two suspects in this case.
