Sole person killed in drone attack on Moscow region Wildberries warehouse revealed to be Tajik citizen
His family was compensated by a contractor, but not by Wildberries itself.
A 25-year-old Tajik citizen, Navruzdzhon Sodiqov, was killed in Ukraine’s drone attack on a warehouse owned by online retailer Wildberries in the Moscow region town of Elektrostal on Saturday. Novaya Gazeta Europe has confirmed the identity of Sodiqov, whose name had previously been reported by Tajik media, and has uncovered the details of the incident.
The victim’s death was confirmed to Novaya Gazeta Europe by his brother, Sadriddin, who was also working at the warehouse that night. He said his brother’s body was taken to Tajikistan on Wednesday.
Sadriddin said that Navruzdzhon had been gravely injured in the drone strike and was taken to the hospital before the ambulance had even arrived, but that he died upon arrival. Navruzdzhon had been living in Russia since 2025, working at the warehouse in Elektrostal for most of that time.
According to his brother, the family of the deceased was paid 1 million rubles (€11,200) by Resource Plus, the legal entity behind a company called Mega Personal. The latter firm provides outsourcing and recruitment services that include recruiting CIS citizens for work at Wildberries warehouses. Mega Personal is not part of Wildberries; its founders are three entrepreneurs unaffiliated with the retail giant. Wildberries representatives have not yet contacted the family of the deceased. Wildberries CEO Tatyana Kim previously promised the families of the victims financial assistance of 2 million rubles (€22,400) each.
Overnight on Saturday, Ukrainian drones attacked two Wildberries warehouses in the regions of Moscow and Tambov. Seven people working the night shift in the Tambov region warehouse died, and another 24 were injured. In Elektrostal, a warehouse fire resulted in over 50 injured, with Sodiqov the only fatality. Employees working the night shift at these warehouses later reported that some had not been allowed to leave the building during the fire.
Neither regional authorities nor the company itself have released the names of the dead and injured. Wildberries employees have begun to inquire about those they have been unable to contact for several days through workplace chats. Novaya Europe correspondents confirmed that in the Elektrostal warehouse chats alone, the list of those who have not been in touch since the attack totals at least 53 people, including citizens of Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan.
Overnight on Wednesday, Ukrainian drones struck two more Wildberries logistics centres, in two cities in the Stavropol region. This time, the staff was evacuated in advance, but 15 people were still injured: ten in the city of Krasnodar and five in the city of Nevinnomyssk. One employee injured in Krasnodar later succumbed to her injuries in the hospital.
