Ukrainian missiles strike Voronzeh plant supplying semiconductors to Russian military

Ukrainian forces continued to step up their campaign of airstrikes on targets deep inside Russia on Monday, launching several missiles at a semiconductor factory in the western Russian city of Voronezh, Russian Telegram news channel ASTRA reported. 

Explosions were heard in Voronezh at around midday on Monday, after which a pall of smoke could be seen over the city, according to multiple news outlets, including Ukrainian media Exilenova+ and Supernova+.

Confirming reports of the attack, Voronezh Governor Alexander Gusev said that three people had been injured and that the façades and windows of nearby residential buildings had been damaged, as well as “one of Voronezh’s enterprises”, though he did not specify which one.

The target of the Ukrainian strike, the Voronezh Semiconductor Devices Assembly Plant, has been sanctioned by the United States for its role in providing weapons and other equipment to the Russian military. As well as manufacturing integrated circuits and power modules for Russian missiles, the plant also produces components for combat vehicles used in Russian air defence systems.

According to Russian channels monitoring frontline developments in Ukraine, in addition to those that reached the plant, another three Storm Shadow missiles were shot down over the city.
