A Moscow court has fined popular online gaming platform Roblox over two counts of “LGBT propaganda”, the Moscow courts press service reported on Monday.
The court imposed penalties on the company in the form of fines totaling 8,000,000 rubles (€90,700) after Russian media regulator Roskomnadzor had discovered certain violations related to the “positive assessment of non-traditional values” concerning the platform’s work in September 2025.
Roblox was blocked in Russia in December 2025 after it was accused of distributing “LGBT” and “extremist” content. Roskomnadzor also raised concerns about child safety online, alleging the presence of content which could potentially threaten children’s “spiritual and moral development”, as well as the heightened risk underage users ran of being sexually harassed on the platform, something it said was “a frequent occurrence” in both the US and Russia.
Following the blocking, Roblox informed Roskomnadzor that it would comply with Russian law to get it lifted. Roskomnadzor said that Roblox’s management had recognised the lack of moderation and security problems in the platform’s chat functions and committed to remove “destructive and dangerous information” and counter “the criminal actions and communications of users on the platform”.
