Four people were killed after a Russian missile strike on the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro on Monday morning, acting Dnipropetrovsk region Governor Vladyslav Hayvanenko has reported.
Hayvanenko said that at least 40 people were known to be injured, 11 of whom were in a serious condition. He said that the rescue workers had now completed their mission at the site after a missile struck at approximately 9.30am local time.
The State Emergency Service of Ukraine reported that it had managed to save four people at the site. Fire broke out at a garage and on the roof of a 5-storey building, though these had now been put out, it said.
“People are exhausted. They can barely hold back tears,” Hayvanenko said later on Monday. “But they are not going to give up, nor are they going to forgive those who commit terrible crimes against Ukraine year after year.”
As efforts intensify to bring an end to the war in Ukraine, Russia shows no sign of stopping its relentless barrage against civilian targets in Ukrainian cities, with at least one person killed and 19 more, including a child, injured in a missile strike on the Kyiv suburb of Vyshhorod on Saturday night.
