A fire broke out at an oil terminal in the town of Feodosia, in annexed Crimea, overnight, an adviser to Igor Tkachenko, the Russian-appointed mayor of the town, said on Telegram on Monday.

Tkachenko said that the fire did not cause death or injury and Emergency Situations Ministry crews were at the terminal. The mayor’s office did not say what had caused the fire, but local residents reported that they had heard explosions beforehand, according to independent news outlet ASTRA.

The Russian Defence Ministry reported that 21 Ukrainian drones had been intercepted overnight, of which 12 were shot down over Crimea.

The target of the drone attack was the Marine Oil Terminal, Crimea’s largest petroleum transhipment hub, according to Ukrainian Telegram channel Crimean Wind.

The General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) confirmed the airstrike on the oil terminal, noting that its purpose was “to meet the needs of Russia’s occupying army”. “Measures aimed at undermining Russia’s military and economic potential are ongoing,” the statement read.

Crimean Wind said the AFU had also attacked military airfields at Saki and Belbek in Crimea overnight. The same oil terminal was also attacked by Ukrainian drones in November and December 2023 and in March of 2024, it added.
