ISW: Russia re-mining Zaporizhzhia region to hinder Ukraine advance

The Russian military has ramped up efforts to lay more mines in the Zaporizhzhia region of southeastern Ukraine to disrupt enemy logistics and to slow down Ukrainian advances in the region, the US Institute for the Study of War (ISW) reported on Monday.

ISW analysts believe that the Russian army has begun re-mining the areas that were previously cleared of mines on the Robotyne-Verbove axis. Over the last few days, these operations have disrupted the movement of heavy Ukrainian cargo and equipment.

The ISW also said that Russia has intensified its tactical advances on several stretches of the frontline beyond Zaporizhzhia in an attempt to thin out Ukrainian defences and prevent Kyiv from deploying its reserves to the region.
