Kadyrov’s teenage son given Hero of Chechnya title

The award comes less than two weeks after the Chechen leader published a video showing his son beating up a defenceless prisoner

The 15-year-old Adam Kadyrov, son of Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov, has been decorated with the title “Hero of Chechnya”, Chechen politician Adam Delimkhanov reported.

“[Adam Kadyrov] is an example of an exceptionally intelligent, erudite, and committed young man. From an early age, he has shown the qualities of a leader, always striving for self-improvement, and never idling time away,” Delimkhanov, who is a member of the Russian parliament and Adam Kadyrov’s uncle, wrote.

On 25 September, Chechen leader Ramzan Kadyrov published a video showing the 15-year-old Adam assaulting 19-year-old Nikita Zhuravel, who had earlier been arrested for burning a copy of Islam’s holy book.

Kadyrov said he was “proud” of his son and that Adam had “done the right thing to beat him up”. “He was always distinguished by a desire to be not among his peers, but among grownups, thanks to which he espouses mature ideals of honour and defending his faith,” he wrote in the description of the video.
