Denmark denies entry to Russian deputy health minister ahead of WHO regional conference

The Danish authorities have denied the Russian deputy health minister entry to the country, the Russian embassy in Copenhagen reported on Wednesday.

Oleg Salagay had travelled to Denmark to attend the World Health Organisation conference in the Danish capital. The Russian embassy demanded an explanation and an apology from the country’s authorities, stressing that the Danish government had an obligation to ensure all WHO member countries, including Russia, had unimpeded access to the WHO conference.

The Danish authorities have yet to comment on the matter.

On 1 September, Denmark demanded that Russia reduce the number of diplomats in its embassy in Copenhagen, a request Russia’s diplomatic mission said was caused by “deliberately stirred up spymania”.
