At least 148 people were injured in the missile strike on the centre of the city of Chernihiv carried out by the Russian army, the Ukrainian Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on Sunday.
According to the ministry, the police are still receiving reports from the people wounded in the strike. “Seven people were killed as a result of the enemy attack, the number of injured has reached 148,” the statement said.
The head of the Chernihiv region administration Viacheslav Chaus clarified that there are 15 children among the injured. Forty-one people were hospitalised, 15 of them have already been operated on, according to the governor.
One of the victims is a six-year-old girl named Sophia. She was supposed to start elementary school on 1 September, Ukrainian media report, citing a family friend. Sophia’s mother has been hospitalised in critical condition.
