Drone attack on railway station in Russia’s Kursk injures five

In the Russian city of Kursk, a drone crashed into the roof of a railway station, leading to a fire and injuring five, the governor of the Kursk region Roman Starovoyt reported on Sunday.

According to him, 50 people were inside the building at the moment of the attack, they were urgently evacuated. All of the injured have light shrapnel wounds. 

The fire was extinguished, the governor added.

Furthermore, a drone attempted to attack Moscow overnight, the mayor of the city Sergey Sobyanin said. The Russian Defence Ministry reported that the drone had been detected in the Moscow region south at around 4 AM Moscow time. According to the ministry, “the UAV was suppressed by electronic warfare equipment and, having lost control, crashed in a deserted area”. There were no casualties or damages reported.

At around 3 AM Moscow time, it was reported that the capital’s airports Vnukovo and Domodedovo had stopped receiving flights. The flights were redirected to the Sheremetyevo airport. The Russian Air Transport Agency later confirmed that the air space had been closed due to the drone threat. Currently all the airports are operating normally.

Three drones were also downed over the Rostov region, as the governor Vasily Golybev reported. According to him, they were suppressed by electronic warfare. There were no victims or damages, he clarified.
